William Kissinger, a prisoner at Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola experienced retaliation from prison officials after speaking with a journalist investigating prison conditions. As a result, Mr. Kissinger was transferred from Angola to the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center where he was kept in extreme isolation for 18 days before being sent to the maximum security section and held with restrictions on movement and contact without the outside world. On September 6, 2017, a settlement was reached that returned Mr. Kissinger to Angola, wiped his disciplinary record and restored his previous rights and privileges.
