Areas of Focus

Vanessa del Valle is a Clinical Associate Professor of Law at the MacArthur Justice Center at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. Her work forces on enforcing the civil rights of individuals involved with the criminal justice system. She represents victims of police misconduct, families who have lost loved ones to police violence, incarcerated individuals in correctional facilities and individuals who served time for crimes they did not commit. She also represents community organizations seeking to end abusive policing tactics.

Del Valle joined the MacArthur Justice Center in November 2015 after serving for two years as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Rubén Castillo in the Northern District of Illinois.  In 2013, del Valle received a law degree from Stanford Law School.  She majored in political science at Yale University where she received a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in 2010.
