Today, in response to a habeas petition filed alongside the ACLU of Illinois, Judge Sara Ellis has ordered that our clients Pablo Moreno Gonzalez and Felipe Agustin Zamacona must be released from ICE custody immediately. In response, Alexa Van Brunt, director of the MacArthur Justice Center’s Illinois office issued the following statement:  

“Today, we celebrate that our clients Mr. Moreno Gonzalez and Mr. Agustin Zamacona will be coming home to their communities. After bravely sharing their harrowing accounts of what it is like to be detained in Broadview, we are incredibly relieved that they no longer have to be held in inhumane conditions and can be safely returned to their families.”
