MacArthur Justice Center Issues Statement on the Killing of Renee Nicole Good by ICE Agent in Minneapolis
In response to the tragic shooting of Renee Nicole Good, the Executive Director of the MacArthur Justice Center, David Shapiro, issued the following statement:
Today, three children woke up without a mother, and the Minneapolis community lost a vital member as ICE agents murdered Renee Nicole Good just blocks from her home. These agents are being aggressively deployed in the name of safety, but they have only been successful in endangering communities across the country.
According to data from The Trace, there have been at least 40 incidents this year where federal agents shot someone or held them at gunpoint during immigration enforcement under the Trump Administration’s violent takeover of our communities.
Federal agents are not above the law. ICE must be held to account for acting illegally, violently, and inhumanely. Minneapolis and communities across the nation deserve safety, and this administration is doing everything in their power to eliminate that basic right.
